Break Away In the UK This Weekend
With the wealth of weekend breaks on offer in the UK, you don't have to go abroad to discover a world of new and exciting attractions. Offering up a stunning selection of hidden delights and world-renown wonders, there is much to see and do on this island, making it an affordable alternative to holidaying overseas.
Indeed, from its breathtaking scenery, eclectic nightlife and fresh, natural produce, to the vast range of cultural sites and shopping opportunities galore, Britain has it all. And, combined with its established transportation system, it's easy to get around without wasting both your time and your cash. In fact, a quick internet search will yield an assortment of value for money deals and attractive offers, meaning you can focus on enjoying your free time.
For a break steeped in culture and beauty, then York is the place to visit. Boasting an interesting selection of medieval architecture and quaint cobbled streets, it's the perfect location in which to sit back and soak up the atmosphere. With music forming an important part of its heritage, there are always a number of events to attend and performances to watch. The walled city is also home to a host of museums and attractions, whilst its food offerings - particularly the ham - are simply mouth-watering.
Although not strictly part of the UK, but instead a British Crown Dependency, Jersey is another definite must-see. Just a three-hour ferry ride, or a 50 minute plane journey away, this small island offers up a huge range of remarkable landscapes, idyllic beaches and continental cuisine. Perfect for a weekend break, there are numerous events, festivals and attractions to keep you occupied. Or, if you prefer the quiet life, then take advantage of the many walking routes available.
Back on the mainland and heading north, Oban is a veritable treasure trove of beauty and tranquillity. Dubbed the seafood capital of Scotland, it's home to some of the freshest produce around, meaning your senses are in for a real treat! Located on the west coast, it is bestowed with a host of picturesque views and is a great starting place for discovering the rest of what Scotland has to offer.
Northern Ireland also has a lot to show its visitors, including some of the most outstanding scenery in the UK and a host of undisturbed retreats. County Antrim, for example, found in the north east of the country is well worth a visit, particularly due to of all the myths and legends surrounding the area. The Giant's Causeway, an amazing, huge basalt rock formation, is unquestionably one of the first places you should go, whilst the range of hill walking opportunities and beaches to discover are equally enticing.
So, if you're on a budget, but still need to get away from it all, cheap weekend breaks within the UK will leave you spoiled for choice.
