Irish Ring: Delve into the Types of Irish Rings

A wedding celebration is among one of the most treasured events in a couple's lifetime. They try to make the event perfect and strive to make it the most memorable affair. It is the day that they pronounce to commit their love to each other, and as part of that, they exchange various wedding symbols that will represent their love, dedication, and commitment to each other.

All about Irish Weddings

Irish weddings are common as they follow certain traditions and customs that may be whimsical but are still being considered because they have been proven to make marriages lucky. There are already modern Irish traditions, but there are still those that come from way past olden times. Among the Irish traditions that have been continually followed is the exchange of Irish rings. The symbolic exchange of Irish wedding rings expresses the couple's deep love and commitment for each other through good times and bad.

Types of Irish Wedding Rings

There are several types of Irish rings that are used in Irish weddings. The most common type is the Claddagh Irish ring and the Celtic Irish ring. They may have similarities, but generally, these Irish wedding rings are different in one way or another.

- Celtic Irish wedding rings have the usual Celtic art designs-the Celtic knots-that signify a couple's perpetual love for each other, with no beginning and no end. There is also the Celtic Trinity Irish ring that has a three-string knot pattern that stands for the Holy Trinity: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This Irish ring when worn by the newlywed couple is said to seek the guidance and blessings of the Holy Trinity for their marriage.

- The Claddagh Irish ring types usually have a heart that has two hands intertwined with each other and a crown nestled atop. It is said that the heart is the symbol of love, the hands, the symbol of friendship, while the crown, the symbol of loyalty and fidelity to each other. As they exchange this type of Irish wedding rings, they say these words that echo the emotions being shown in the ring: "With these hands, I give you my heart and crown it with my love."

- The silver Irish rings are also common Irish rings exchanged by couples in an Irish wedding. There are different Celtic designs etched on them such as the shamrock, spirals, or the Celts' tree of life. Extravagant gems or stones may be put on these rings such as rubies, sapphires, emeralds, or any other birthstone of the couple's choice. These types of Irish wedding rings may also be in gold or platinum.
