Opportunities During An Ireland Tour

A tour of Ireland can offer a great many rewarding experiences from exploring historical castles on lush countryside hills to wiling away the night in a charming pub or two. Whether your Ireland Tour is taken by car, bike, horse or foot there're always a rich pieces of cultural history waiting to be discovered. Here's a quick look at some places you can visit.

Belfast City

Belfast is an affordable and stylish place to stay on your tour of Ireland, with its newly designed comfortable hotels and fascinating history. Belfast is located between mountain and coast offering a visually stunning view from several angles. Belfast's small size makes it a wonderful shopping location, with trendy stores up and down Lisburn Road to knick-knack stalls and award-winning farmer's markets early Saturday mornings in St. George's Market.

Galway City

Hailing as the most westerly city in Ireland, Galway City is known as the City of Tribes, so named after the 14 most prosperous tribes who ruled during the middle ages. This city has a strong artistic background and a thriving arts and entertainment scene with summers that are a never-ending stream of festivals. Medieval streets and lively weekend markets make for a city retreat that you'll not soon forget and the Galway Races are regarded by many as Ireland's most colorful racing festival. Stop by the Galway Irish Crystal Heritage Center on your way through during your Ireland Tour to learn all about the particulars of making crystal.

Eastern Ireland

The counties of Cavan, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Offaly, Meath, Monaghan, Westmeath and Wicklow offer a more rural taste on your tour of Ireland. This region boasts rich natural charms, ancient sites, spectacular golfing and famous horseracing with the county of Kildare being particularly well-known as home to some of the world's finest thoroughbreds.

The unspoiled East of Ireland is most notable for its rolling hills, forest parks, scenic pastureland, relaxing rivers, and sparkling lakes. No Ireland Tour would be complete without the outdoor enthusiast sampling the abundant supply of fishing, horse riding, walking, cycling, water sports, golfing and cruising that these eastern counties have to offer.

Limerick

The Republic of Ireland's third largest city, Limerick is located on one of Ireland's most aesthetically pleasing rivers, the River Shannon. Stopping by this bustling modern city during your Ireland tour will reveal a rich medieval past that echoes in its ancient streets. Visit the internationally celebrated Hunt Museum to see art collections that include Picasso, da Vinci and Renoir, or visit the splendid medieval precinct to see King John's Castle that's been kept up for over 800 years. Limerick is also teeming with excellent shops and restaurants for you to visit on your tour of Ireland, and has some generous accommodations that make an excellent base for exploring the surrounding sights.

Northern Ireland

Before you finish your Ireland tour see what the six counties of Northern Ireland have to offer you. Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Londonderry, and Tyrone await your exploration and are absolutely packed with things to do whether you're interested in beautiful scenery, tragic history, rich culture or adventurous outdoor activities. The craggy mountains, impressive lakes, and expansive coastline make this northern wonderland an absolute playground for the weekend warrior. Try your hand at any number of cycling or hiking trails, rock climbing, or sailing.

There are plenty of things to keep a culturally enthralled visitor busy on an Ireland tour to this region as well. Oyster festivals, authentic horse fairs, ancient castles or stylish country houses await your viewing pleasure and that's just the tip of the list of things waiting for you to find them.

Ireland Tour?
What are the best but fairly inexpensive places to stay in Ireland? I really don't want touristy type things. I know there are some great tourist attractions, and I may hit the majors but, this may be my only chance to go and I want experience it without all the tourist drama. I plan to visit as much of the country as I can. Particularly interested in the areas near County Carlow to start. Any safety precautions btw?
