Dublin is the largest city in Ireland and is also the capital of Ireland. And it is located on the east Coast of Ireland next to the river Liffey. Dublin is founded in de medieval times by the Vikings. It began as a settlement and has always been the most important city of Ireland. The name Dublin litteraly means black pool but now moast people in Ireland call the place Baile Atha Cliath what means the settlement of the Ford of the Reed Hurdels what also dates back to 988 when it was founded by the Vikings. The first settlement was next to the Poddele what is on the east of the Christchurch. This area was chosen specificly by the Vikings because it was easy to use a defensive post.

The city has always been very famous because of its literary history. Also many of the worlds most famous works come from Dublin. Dublin has also produced three winners of the Nobel prize of Literature and that is more then any other city in the world. Some famous playwrights are Oscar Wilde and Jonathan Smith who have created many famous plays like Dracula. Also Joyce James is born in Dublin and is also very famous, his most famous work is the Ulysses.

There are also many theatres in the centre of Dublin and many famous international actors are produced here like Brendan Gleeson, Collin Farrel and Gabriel Byrne. The most famous theatres are the Olympica. The Gate and the Abbet. The Gaiety is specially for musicals and operas. The Abbey is specialized in dancing and films.

Dublin has a great nightlife and is one of the most youthful cities in Europe almost 50% of the people who live there are younger then 25. And in 2007 this city was voted as the friendliest city in Europe. There are pubs in almost every street of the center. In the area around St. Stephens Green are the most popular nightclus and pubs. The Temple bar are is internationally the most famous and had become a hotspot for tourists

Dublin is also a very popular shopping spot for both the Irish aswell for the many tourist that visit Dublin every year. It has many famous shopping districts like Grafton Street and Henry street. I have been in Dublin many times and I spent 3 days of my holiday on shopping and I never got bored. I also been to many of the beautifull theatres and I am sure that they have something for everyone. I think it would be really cool when you go there that you write your own story of the things you have seen and done so everyone can enjoy you wonderfull story when you post it in this great article directory.
