Location
Ireland is considered to a large country relative to some of its surrounding countries. To give you a better perspective of the size it is roughly 27, 135 square miles. Comparing this statistic it is nearly the same size of the state of West Virginia. Greenland is to the north of Ireland as well as Canada. The United States is directly west of Ireland which allows for trading to be done more effectively.
Notable Landmarks
Ireland has a rich tradition of castles. There are numerous castles that have become landmarks and great tourist attractions over the past ten years. These castles once served a purpose that wasn't only for tourism. They were the homes of English royalty. Some of the names of the castles are listed below.
Glenart Castle
Ballyhack Castle

Kilkea Castle
And many more.http://medieval-castles.org/blog/media/irish_castle.JPG
Ireland's Economy
The economy of Ireland is always growing with over 5% of growth each year. This is important to Ireland, because as the economy grows so will the opportunities for more development and trade with various nations. The industry that has dominated the Ireland economy over the past decade is the Service Industry. Another prevalent statistic is that the unemployment rate is relatively low compared to other nations just falling in around 6%. The unemployment rate is so low because Ireland has numerous service corporations that are either manufacturing or service companies that need lots of employees. According to the Post.IE A Sunday Business Post Online the top 5 most profitable companies in Ireland are listed below.
Round Island One located in Dublin.
Janssen Pharmaceutical located in Cork.
Allie Irish Bank located in Dublin.
Intel Ireland located in Dublin.
Bank of Ireland located in Dublin.
As a result of Ireland being a dominant service industry nation trade with other nations is very important. The top three nations that do the most trade with Ireland are the United States, United Kingdom, and Belgium. These trading partners are located near Ireland and are developed countries so they have a lot to gain and offer from participating in trade with Ireland.
Cultural Profile
In Ireland business etiquette is very similar to that of American cultural. Working amongst other employees and business partners a handshake is accepted and a very important part of doing business. Like in America a handshake is a form of greeting as well as sealing a business deal. If you want to look like a professional when doing business with someone from Ireland or in Ireland being on time is a must. Also conversations help to ease the tension that can be caused by having to sit in important meetings and working on business deals. Conversation is a very important part of doing business in Ireland. One of the last things you need to remember when doing business in Ireland is that if you go out for dinner or to a pub for business which is a common thing to do make sure you order a Guinness. A Guinness is great beer to have and is native to Ireland. To help with conversation it is a great idea to order a round of drinks at the pub. This shows your ability to be charitable as well as helps with conversation.
It is good to know that citizens of Ireland and Americans are very similar in some of there belief systems as well as the culture. Citizens of Ireland look at Americans as being friendly, helpful as well as hard working. The view point is mainly positive but the one thing that Ireland mainly disagrees with the Administration of the United States. Most citizens of Ireland disagree with everything that the U.S. has done in the Middle East and surrounding countries regarding the War in Iraq and the economy.
