Cheap Trips To Ireland

Maybe it is the vast expanses of rolling green hills, maybe it is the famous hospitality, maybe it is the equally famous beer - whatever it is that draws the countless tourists to Ireland each year, the country is an incredibly popular tourist destination that just keeps getting more popular.

Of course, the first step with any holiday is to get there, and it is likely that your flight to Ireland will be one of the biggest expenses of your vacation (unless you are already in Europe, in which case, lucky you). There are ways to keep from paying a fortune on your airfare to Ireland, however, even if you do not have the good fortune of already being in Europe! Just take a look at our tips for finding cheap airfare to Ireland:

  1. Find out which airlines use Ireland airports as a hub - Sometimes the airlines that fly often to and from a certain airport will have specials or deals on airfare because they have such frequent flights. This is not always the case, but it is usually worth looking! Aer Lingus, for instance, is Ireland’s national carrier and has its main hub at Dublin Airport. Ryanair, one of Europe’s most successful budget carriers, is also based at Dublin Airport. Another budget carrier, bmibaby, has a base in Cork.
  2. Fly into a different city - If your original plans call for flying in and out of Dublin but you are not having any luck coming up with cheap airfare, consider looking at other large cities nearby such as London or even Paris. Those cities have enormous international airports in them, so there are sometimes even better travel deals to be found there. Then all you need to do is book a separate ticket for your short flight to Ireland on one of Europe’s excellent low cost airlineThis can take a bit more planning on your part, but if you can save big money it can also be worth it.
  3. Schedule your flights for midweek - Weekends are understandably the busiest travel days, primarily with leisure travelers, so airlines can charge more for plane tickets - they know the seats will be in demand, no matter what they charge. Mondays are also quite popular travel days, only this time they are popular with business travelers. So if you can schedule your flights for Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays you stand a better chance of getting a lower fare.
  4. Visit Ireland during the low season - Everything in the tourism industry has a high season and a low season, and that includes airfare. Traveling during the busy high season can sometimes cost twice as much as traveling during the low season, sometimes more. If you do not have your heart set on sunny weather, try booking your flight for the off-season and you could score really cheap airfare to Ireland. Another plus in this department is you will likely not have to fight the large high season crowds, either.

Traveling in Ireland continues to be extremely popular, so waiting for a time when people are visiting another country instead is not really an option. If you want to see Ireland, you just have to plan ahead and do your research and you can avoid spending your life savings. With the tips provided here and the great deals in our airfare search engine you should be able to come up with a good deal on a flight to Ireland.
