Capital Of Northern Ireland
A Weekend in Belfast
Belfast, the Capital Of Northern Ireland is a truly fascinating city and perfect weekend break destination, with so much history and culture, good food and a vast array of places to stay; it's well worth a thought if you are planning to get away from it all. On of the main advantages of Belfast, is that you can see the whole city on foot. The architecture is amazing so remember to look up! There are also full programs of city tours by bus, starting from Castle Place for less than 10. You can also enjoy a guided tour for 8 from Tour Ulster, or the Giant's Causeway and tour of the Antrim Coast for just 15. A visit to Belfast isn't complete without visiting Belfast Castle; just 3 miles from the city centre on the edge of Cave Hill, not far from Belfast Zoo should also not be missed. You should also make time to visit the City Hall in Donegal Square, Dundonald Old Mill and the Grand Opera House on Victoria Street.
If you are staying for longer than a day, then you could spend a whole day at the Ulster Museum and Gallery with displays ranging from Art to archaeology. This is a short distance from the centre and admission is free. If museums are your thing, then you might also like the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum 7 miles outside Belfast. It features on of the world's best Titanic exhibitions.
If you're looking for entertainment then you might want to see what's on at the Odyssey, a multipurpose arena and entertainment venue, including a 10, 000 seat arena, IMAX cinema, science centre and a plethora of shops, restaurants and cafes.
Getting into Belfast is easy. You can fly into Belfast City Airport which is two miles by rail, or you can get ferry crossings from England and Scotland, and you can get to Dublin in around 2 hours.
Belfast is growing all the time and has benefited from massive investment over the past few years, making this a great up and coming destination.
